What do you do with a big hand preflop when you have a big stack, like K-K? And how might the other players react? Regardless of if you simply play free poker online for pennies or are at the final table in WSOP this is a core situation that you must know how to exploit to the full.

For our example we will look at an example from a World Series of Poker game:

BLINDS 40,000/80,000 A has As-10c moves all-in (Pot 1.296m)

B has K-K reraises to 5m (Pot 6.296m)

B has two options here. He can just call and then wait for someone to move all-in after him, but that would make him do some thinking...

Could it be A-A? Or Q-Q? If it was Q-Q there is a slight chance he might fold K-K, and regret it. But a big reraise can drive Q-Q or lower out, like what happened to another player:

C has Jd-Jc

(C's comments on B's hand were: "Why did you make it so much?... You like your hand that much?")

If C calls, it's for all of his chips.

C may think that B has A-K, but there are two all-ins in front of him, and one of them might be A-X (and with A-X he is still not safe) or a pair, but a suspiciously heavy raise to about 60 times the big blind is almost always a signal for A-A or K-K. So C could wait for a better opportunity than now.

C folds (Pot 2.39m)

C's fold was brilliant, after the reraise, but it will still be brilliant even if B did not reraise. B might bet again on the Flop and C may not continue and just let go of the chips.

B's reraise will work if he has A-A or K-K, but I doubt it if he will do the same with A-K or Q-Q, but it may have the same effect of making C fold. As for A, let us wish for his good health. B won the hand later.

In summary

It takes time to learn how to play poker online even free online poker or offline at a level above the unthinking, uneducated "chip flinging" seen at many tables. Learning to play different hand scenarios is just one of the facets of the game you need to master and ones such as big hands preflop are crucial. Hopefully this has helped you, and remember, when you learn this you will automatically become a cut above average as most players don't bother!

Free Online Poker Guide To Slow Playing Strong Hands To Win Even More
It's one of those uncommon instances, it can happen in free online poker games and high stakes alike, when you have J-9, for example, and you flop J-J-9. You check, and your opponent bets, you call. Turn comes a 6, you check again, and your opponent bets.
You call. River comes a 2. You check for the last time, your opponent bets a big amount which could be even an all-in, then you call. You finally reveal your monster J-9 against your opponent's, say, 9-7.
Usually with strong made hands (like A-K in a flop of A-10-3) we bet aggressively with the hope that our opponents will take that for a bluff and play back, or that they will put us on a draw and call us, or that they have a showdown-quality hand which is not strong enough for our hand and then call us. Or that they will be not willing to call with their draw (say, K-Q) and fold.
But with very strong made hands, especially on the Flop, like the J-9 example above, we can slow play. That is to say, we play passively on the hope that our opponent will bet strongly so we can take away most of their chips.
Note that with a J-9 in the J-J-9 Flop, our checks may mean, that we may not have anything, or we may have just a draw (say, Q-10) so that they will bet on the hope that they will drive out our draw. They can't. Our hand is like an erect statue already that is nearly impossible to demolish. The 9-7 our opponent has is decent enough to take to showdown.
But with the above, what we really want our opponent to have is the Q-10. Our check may mean that we may have nothing so that they may check along with us or semi-bluff with the open-end Straight draw. We just call.
Why wouldn't we do the same with, say, A-J? Because with A-J, we have only Trips, and we do not want to give our opponent free cards to complete a Straight that can kill off our Trips. So we bet big, or raise big, and hope that the opponent folds, or at least put your opponent in the awkward situation of calling without sufficient pot odds.
But with J-9, we can just play it slowly. Because if your opponent hits his Straight, then he will bet big, so you can raise him. And it escalates to all-ins and calls and in a jiffy all or most of his chips are yours!
If your opponent didn't hit his Straight, however, your slow play might mean to him that you're the one on a draw, and you are playing passively because you are waiting for the right cards to fall. Nope! The right cards have already fallen! He will bluff, and you can take away all you can. Or he may just be in the proper mood to bluff with any hand (say, K-9 or eve A-K) and you can take his chips.
So, with very big hands that are nearly impossible to beat, we should play it slowly because you want your opponent's hand to improve into a nearly-matched hand. If he hits his Straight, for example. If you raise him he may be scared away from completing his Straight, and you will get less chips than you would by slow-playing.
Or with 9-7, he may hit an additional Nine, thus giving him a smaller Full House. Another reason is that if your opponent is in such a mood to bluff that he is willing to bluff all the way, even with nothing, then you can strip off his chips, so give him that chance to bluff.

Retirement benefits: Blackjack:
I spent the entire night thinking about what my son who is an online poker player told me. He said the best way for me to spend my time in retirement was to learn an online gambling game and play it for low stakes at one of the many web sites.
So started my day in the morning surfing the web to try and find the game that would keep me occupied and maybe make me my first million. Having been an avid fan of James Bond I said to myself what better game to learn than Blackjack. Boy was I in for a surprise.
I have been a teacher of mathematics for 31years and the one rule of the game seemed simple enough to me. Cards in hand should total or be as close to 21 in total with the Ace having a value of one or eleven, the number cards up to nine having their face value and 10 and the picture cards having a value of ten, suits having no consequence. The objective was to beat the dealer.
I had the option and so did the dealer to call for additional cards if I wanted, called a "hit" or if satisfied let my cards "stand". Pairs could be "split" into two hands played separately, and so on and so on till the confusion in my brain began.
So I chose the very convenient Strategy trainer/free blackjack game to check out what I had understood so far. It was highly instructive as I kept playing and on my first test drive placing 100$ bets I played ten hands to check my proficiency. I won five and lost five hands, a 50% win record at the first attempt which can also be constituted as a 50% loss record, more a case of the glass being half full or...
The best part of the experience was that I had spent my morning hours in one place, not spent any money and had not got into anyone's face. The next time around I intend to wager small stakes and hope to make my first million before I pass on to the casinos in heaven or hell, wherever I am destined to be.

Sports Betting Advice - If You Love it, Why Not Bet on It?
I would hate to have to count all the different sports available to fans these days, there are just so many of them. Each sport has its own fans and following, and believe it or not it is possible to place bets on virtually any sport your into.
It is for this reason that there are loads of websites and gurus who will offer all kinds of sports betting advice.
Fans of sports such as football, tennis, rugby, cricket, baseball and basketball, often place bets on which team will win, they also place bets on which team will lose, who the man of the match will be, where a football team will be in the league standings at a certain time and even the spread or by how much a team will win by.
If you can think of it, chances are you can bet it, and what better way to make watching your favorite team play more exciting, than by placing a wager on the outcome of a game.
Counting on your instincts to ensure you have placed the correct sports bet is not the way to go about things. Not unless you really want to lose your shirt. Leaving matters to luck don't generally work in the long run, there is a special science involved in sports gambling.
You have to read as much material as you can about your team, and investigate what the statistics are. Your pick has to be made when you know what you are doing, not by taking a pin, blindfolding yourself and stabbing the pin into the paper only to find you have chosen the worst donkey in the entire race.
This is how I was brought up to place a bet, read the paper pick the name of the horse I though was the cutest, and put money on it. Needless to say I never won. However I have seen horse racing punters look at the statistics for the horses in a race, and pick the biggest outsider for a win, and they have won. Based on the information they picked up in the race stats and their empirical knowledge of the Jockey, owner and trainer.
Betting for fun and betting to make money are two entirely different things. People who don't know any better, bet for fun and usually lose their money. People who know better, bet based on knowledge and win.
Empirical knowledge are the things you learn from observing something, like the Eskimo, knows the ice will melt on this day. You learn things from watching the sport of your choice. This knowledge arms you in your sports betting quest.
Statistics are pieces of information which are fact and they are gathered over time. Looking at these statistics, the sports better is often able to see a pattern of behavior, or activity in past performance.
Both empirical knowledge and statistics are what allows the punter to be knowledgeable about the activities of the team, player or horse they have chosen and see that it will be a sure bet. They know what to expect from the performance and if the probability of winning will be higher. This is what makes betting a science as apposed to just another lucky guess, and not many guesses are lucky.

Online Casino - Gambling Online Has Never Been This Safe
Have you been shying away from playing in an online casino because you believe it isn't safe? Are you afraid that these websites will just steal your money and disappear the next day? In truth, there is nothing to be scared about when gambling online. There are various safety checks websites have to undergo before they can operate an online casino business.
Businesses need to have a license from the government before they can begin operating online. The government will make sure that they have all the safety measures set up for the security of future customers like you. For example, these websites need to be equipped with an encryption system which will prevent hackers from stealing your money and personal information.
There are also numerous groups whose job it is to monitor these online casinos in order to make sure that they will not resort to any foul play. They monitor your fellow players to ensure that they are not cheating in any way. Likewise, they monitor the business itself, to ensure that they aren't rigging the slot machine or blackjack games.
Indeed, owners of these online gambling businesses do get rich fast. But it's not because of any wrongdoing on their part. It's just that so many people get addicted to gambling and end up throwing away all of their money. If you are someone who is just gambling for fun, or someone who is trying to improve his skills in a certain game, then online gambling will work well for you.
Should you find yourself on a losing streak, this doesn't meant that another player or the business owner is purposely making your lose. When gambling, it is normal to experience a losing streak for a certain amount of time. That's just the way online gambling works too. If you are currently on a losing streak then you can expect your winning streak to come sometime soon.

Biased Roulette Wheels Explained
The fabled gambling game roulette is a casino staple and has been such for more than two centuries now. Having evolved from a prototype wheel derived from an invention of the French physicist, mathematician and inventor Dr. Blaise Pascal, the game has gradually gained enormous popularity since its introduction.
Roulette is best visually recognized by its distinct game setup - a table with a board to place bets on and a high wheel on one end or the middle, depending on which version is being played. Of the game's hardware components, it is the wheel that stands out most, eventually becoming synonymous with roulette. In fact, it's not just roulette that adopted its own wheel as its symbol. The simple contraption, composed of a rotating wheel within a heavy wooden bowl with a ball track, was made to represent various casinos and even the gambling industry itself.
The roulette wheel's importance goes beyond mere symbolism. It is the key player in every spin, which can never be possible in the wheel's absence. As the game relies on it, the wheel is required to be fair and precise. Thus, it is manufactured with strict standards and high quality craftsmanship, which is evident in the fact that every wheel exhibits refined aesthetics and can last many decades of use.
However, the wheel can never remain consistently impartial. Without proper care and regular tuning in addition to age and wear, the roulette wheel can end up unbalanced. In this state, the tall wheelhead leans a little on one direction as does the rest of the wheel. In a different case, one or more frets or partitions dividing the pockets may loosen and pop out. In any case, bias is created in the wheel, as the ball will favor the numbers at the wheel's dipping part or land in those slots around the loose fret.
Biased wheels are known to be sought after and exploited by profit-oriented players, and some even "broke the bank" after successfully locating and correctly betting on one. One notable case is that of the 19th century British engineer named Joseph H. Jagger. He hired six clerks to meticulously record the results of the roulette wheels in Monte Carlo's Beaux-Arts Casino, and found a wheel biased to a certain set of numbers. He then went on and wagered on that particular wheel, won big and was later immortalized as "The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo".
Parts that cause bias in the wheel are often barely noticeable to both the players and the dealer. The best way to spot this is long and careful observation of all the wheels in the casino as Jagger once did. However, this proves a terrible waste of time as modern casinos tend to be thorough with wheel maintenance and regularly swaps the wheels between tables. Nevertheless, it's a boon for the player should one be found, as correctly placed bets on a biased wheel can be a great source of quick additional income.
One can truly break the bank by betting on biased roulette wheels. This is downright unpunishable cheating but most blame should go to the house - nothing more than sloppy wheel maintenance creates an exploitable bias, which when found is portent to the casino's loss.

BlackJack - Player Options
There are many options available to you once the cards have been dealt. Your decisions over time, will be the ultimate decider of whether you win a fortune or lose your shirt.
Standing
The player elects to "stand" with the current total and not to draw any additional cards. If you are in a game where the cards are dealt face-down, you slip your cards under your chips. The dealer will understand the message. If you are in a face-up game, wave your hand back and forth in a wiping motion just above your cards, which is the signal for standing. All casinos insist on some form of hand signal; verbal statements are not accepted. Casinos can get rather noisy, and it is easy for a dealer to mishear a player. Also, the cameras hidden in the casino's ceilings can be used to resolve disputes only if hand signals are used, since they do not have an audio component.
Hitting
The player elects to draw an additional card or cards. If you are in a face-down game, draw your cards toward you with a quick scratching motion against the felt once or twice. In a face-up game, make a similar motion with your fingertips or, preferably, point to your cards with your index finger.
Splitting
If your first two cards are of the same value, you may split them and play each as a separate hand. To indicate a desire to split your cards, place an additional wager equivalent to the original one to the side of it. If you are playing in a face-down game, you must expose your cards. After splitting a pair, various other options become available. You can re-split if a third like-valued card appears. Or you can double down on the split hands should an appropriate card be drawn. For example, if you have split 8's and catch a 3 on the first 8, you may now double down on this total of 11. Both re-splitting and doubling and doubling down after a split are to the player's advantage.
Doubling Down
The player may double the size of the original bet and elect to draw only one additional card. The typical doubling situation is where you have a hand that stands a chance of becoming a very good hand with one additional card; for example, your first two cards total 10 or 11. To indicate a double down bet, slide a second wager to the side of the original bet. This wager may be as much as but no more than your original bet. If you are playing in a face-down game, you must expose your cards. Virtually all casinos permit doubling on 11 and 10; most on 11, 10, and 9, and many will allow it on any two cards. The latter rule is the most advantageous to the player.
Insurance
When the dealer shows an A, players are given the option of tak-ing insurance against the dealers' having blackjack. Calling this "insurance" is a bit misleading. Actually, it is nothing other than a side bet that is paid at 2 to 1. If you wish to take insurance (which is only recommended in very specific circumstances recognizable by an expert card counter only), place a bet equal to half your original bet in the semicircle running just in front of the your betting spot. If the dealer has black-jack, you will lose your original bet but win the insurance wa-ger and break even on the hand. If the dealer does not have blackjack, you will lose the insurance bet and the hand will be played out normally.
Surrender
If your hand looks particularly unpromising against the dealers' exposed card, you have the option of surrendering half of your bet and retiring from the hand. For example, should you have 9, 7 against a dealer 10 and your chances of winning the hand are slim -- less than.5 -- and it would be to your advantage to give up half your bet. There are to forms of surrender: "late" and "early." In the late form, the player may surrender after the first two cards provided that the dealer does not have blackjack. In early surrender, the player may surrender after the first two cards even when the dealer is later revealed to have blackjack. Both forms of surrender are to the players' ad-vantage, with early surrender being most beneficial. Not all casinos permit late surrender, and those that do don't necessarily post it at the tables. Except for the occasional promotion, no casino offers early surrender any longer.
Surrender, by the way, is the only play at the table that re-quires a verbal response; there is no hand signal. If you wish to surrender you hand, just say "Surrender." The dealer will re-move half your bet and return the other half.
